![]() My riding friend Dave was a lot more relaxed about the rally than me. The smallest had a full 24 hours and would need every minute. The larger bikes had a time limit of 12 hours to complete the distance, finding the answers to various local questions along the way. There are different categories of scooter, ranging from mopeds with pedals, bicycle seats and a truly challenged top speed of 50 km/h to large highway-gobbling machines like the 650cc Suzuki Burgman, which is as capable as any motorcycle and more comfortable than most. The Mad Bastard Scooter Rally is organized by the Canadian Motorcycle Guide Online web magazine. On the new route for 2007 – a 660 km loop north from here at Belleville up to Calabogie, over to Ottawa and then back down to Highway 2 and down to Belleville, with an optional loop down to Cobourg and back to complete 800 km – we would be unbeatable. I asked Yamaha to provide another B-WS (the 2008, with a new exhaust catalyser) and persuaded my riding friend Dave O'Halloran to come alongside on a loaned Honda Ruckus. So when the call came to repeat the deed last month, only the happy memories remained. And somehow, thanks to my good luck and others' misfortune, I won the rally through a combination of goofy photos, vague determination and foolish bravado. Slow down for a while, make the most of the journey.Īnd so, two years ago, I entered the Mad Bastard Scooter Rally and rode a plucky Yamaha B-WS around Lake Ontario for a loop of more than 800 km in less than 24 hours. Wring the little engine out to its top speed of 60 km/h and enjoy the rural landscape as only a cyclist can, with none of that tedious exertion that comes with pedalling. ![]() Take a small, 49 cc scooter – near-perfect motorized urban transport – and ride it around the countryside. BELLEVILLE–It seemed like such a good idea at the time.

Roller chains are precisely sized to ensure they will work universally across applications, which is why you will need to measure multiple chain components before you can tell what size chain you have. To reflect in service learning means to think critically about and analyze emotional responses to service activities in the context of course content and the learning objectives of a particular course or curriculum. Reflection also allows students to synthesize the observed data gleaned from service activities and connect the new knowledge with the formal knowledge obtained from classroom activities and materials. Arrietty left me with good feelings and avoided being heavy-handed with messages as some Ghibli movies can tend to do. This isn't an action-packed movie with a grand climax or anything like that, but I found it satisfying and pleasantly watchable. ![]() Arrietty herself, the daughter of the family of tiny people, continues the tradition of fantastic female characters that comes from Studio Ghibli. As for the story, it's simple and effective, and deals with nothing more than the human occupants of a home, including a young boy with a heart condition, and the family of borrowers that also lives there unknown. ![]() But the simple beauty of everything and seeing the lovingly-drawn detail in everyday items from the view of smaller eyes makes this one of the more memorable Ghibli movies from a visual standpoint, in my opinion. Instead of the fantastical lands of most Ghibli films like Spirited Away or Howl's Moving Castle, The Secret World of Arrietty is set in an ordinary home. It's visually as beautiful as you'd expect from Ghibli, with even simple backgrounds looking as lovely as a painting. ![]() The Secret World of Arrietty is the story of a family of "borrowers" a tiny race of people who live within the homes of ordinary humans and who are supposed to stay hidden from them at all times. It’s also worth noting that osquery is the most popular repository on GitHub in the “security” category – it is even more popular than Rapid7’s Metasploit framework. Osquery is one of the open source projects covered by Facebook’s bug bounty program, which means researchers can earn rewards if they find vulnerabilities. To get osquery running as a SYSTEM -level service on Windows, one must ensure two things: osqueryd. To fill this gap, Trail of Bits engineer woodruffw. Osquery exposes an operating system as a high-performance relational database. Prior to Osquery 4.2.0, Osquerys FIM capabilities only worked on macOS and supported version of Linux. The tools make low-level operating system analytics and monitoring both performant and intuitive. The osquery developer kit includes all the information and scripts needed for the process. Osquery is an operating system instrumentation framework for Windows, OS X (macOS), Linux, and FreeBSD. For the time being, the tool can only be built on Windows 10. Users who want to leverage osquery for their Windows networks will have to build the application themselves from the available source code. For those already running an osquery deployment, they’ll be able to seamlessly integrate their Windows machines, allowing for far greater efficiency in their work,” Trail of Bits explained. Considering extensions on osquery are getting more and more support, I figured I’d throw up this guide for building osquery extensions on Windows in C++, as we’re still working on developing osquery python extensions for Windows. “Since osquery is cross platform, network administrators will be able to monitor complex operating system states across their entire infrastructure. “This proactive technique, known as ‘threat hunting,’ is an important enhancement to traditional detection-based security, but not yet offered by many commercial agents,” Nick Anderson, security engineer at Facebook, said in a blog post.įacebook ported osquery to Windows with the help of engineers from enterprise security company Trail of Bits, which published a blog post detailing the challenges and benefits. The information is compared to threat intelligence data and potentially malicious extensions can be quickly identified and removed. Facebook says its security team has been using osquery to, among others, collect data on browser extensions running on its corporate network. The framework was released as open source in October 2014, but until now it had only been available for OS X and Linux. Basically, osquery exposes the operating system as a relational database where processes, network connections, loaded kernel modules, hardware events and browser plugins are represented in SQL tables that can be easily queried. Osquery is an instrumentation framework designed to allow users to easily and efficiently explore their operating system via SQL-based queries. Facebook announced on Tuesday the availability of an osquery version that can be used by security teams to quickly identify and analyze threats on their Windows networks. |
